Francisca Cristina Menchón Martín

Francisca Cristina Menchon Martin studied at the School of Applicated Arts & Artistics Jobs of Granada, where she obtained a licence of Applicated Arts and Artistics Jobs, in the specialisation “Artistics Textiles”. This specialisation includes tapestry & treadle loons, macramé, patchwork, and textile painting…

All through 1999 till 2001, she developed her activities in a “cave house” in the “Barranco del Abogado”, a quiet neighborhood of Granada , where she worked with a few decoration shops. During that time, she displayed her work from time to time in collective conventions. Passionate by abstract art, she is known for her modern and colourful designs that are made in the most traditional ways in various forms that never leave aside the classical aspect. These forms combine cotton, linen and woolen TOILE… more classical in regards to the colours than the design. In September 2002, she moved to the Granada Alpujarra, to the village of Capileira (top of the “Barranco del Poqueira”), where she opened a workshop boutique named “LA URDIMBRE DE ARACNE”. From there, she finalises a good number of orders and unique pieces that are on displayand for sale to the public.

Each piece of work that is made in the workshop goes through laborious steps of composition and creation that lead on up to a final optimal result, that always follows client's demands.
